Rafael Nadal will meet top seed Roger Federer in the final of the ATP Swiss Indoors event in Basel on Sunday.
Nadal, the third seed. came through a tight semi-final with France's Richard Gasquet 6-4 7-6 (9-7) in two hours and five minutes.
Federer is on course for his seventh title at his home event beating American Jack Sock 6-3 6-4 in an hour.
Earlier, Britain's Jamie Murray and Australian partner John Peers reached the men's Doubles final.
They progressed with victory over Britain's Dominic Inglot and Sweden's Robert Lindstedt 7-5 1-6 12-10.
Nadal holds a 23-10 lead over his old rival Federer, winning 6-1 6-3 their last ATP final meeting at the Italian Open in 2013.
The Spaniard said: "I have played against Roger hundreds of times around the world, in Madrid a couple of times in finals, but I have never played him in his home.''
Gasquet's defeat to Nadal also settled the field for the eight-man World Tour Finals in London from November 15, with Japan's Kei Nishikori and David Ferrer of Spain taking the last two spots.
Federer, Nadal, world number one Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Tomas Berdych make up the eight-man field.
